Iran Reaches Asian Futsal Final on Walkover

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – Iran proved formidable as it extended winning streak with an amazing 10-2 victory over Kuwait in a semifinal of the 5th Asian Futsal Championships here Monday.

The four-time Asian champion, Iran, will field its highly-skilled players in the final showdown against Japan in the 12,000-seater hall of Azadi Sports Complex, 10km west of Tehran, Tuesday.

In front of over 12,000 partisan fans, Kazem Mohammadi put Iran ahead in the sixth minute and doubled his own and side’s scoring one minute later.

The blue-clad Kuwait keeper was forced to take the ball out of the net in the 12th minute as Hamid Shandizi fired home.

Saeid Abdollah-Nejadian netted two minutes later, giving Iran a first-half 4-0 win.

Top goalscorer of Asia, Vahid Shamsaei, celebrated his double in the first and second minutes after the break and Abdollah-Nejadian scored his own second and Iran’s seventh goal after eighth minutes into the second half.

Majid Raeissi, Hamid Shandizi, and Mohsen Zarei scored a goal apiece every three minutes to complete the Kuwait rout.

Kuwait scored one from the penalty spot three minutes from the normal time and Adel Hussain fired home the second one minute later.

On Tuesday, Thailand and Kuwait fight for the third title and Japan meets Iran in the final.
